Kadai Prawns/ Kadai Shrimp

Kadai Prawns/ Kadai Shrimp - sanaa's recipe
  1. 1 Cup = 200ml
For the marinade
  1. Prawns (cleaned) – 350 gram
  2. Ginger – garlic paste – 1 tsp
  3. Lemon juice – 1 ½ tsp
  4. Salt – to taste
  5. Oil – 3 tbsp (for frying)
  1. Marinate the cleaned prawns with the remaining ingredients above except oil and keep it aside for about 20 minutes. Heat oil in a karahi or a pan and fry the prawns till half cooked. Remove the prawns from the karahi and keep it aside.
For the masala
  1. Onion – 1 (big), chopped
  2. Green chili – 2, chopped
  3. Tomato – 2, chopped
  4. Coriander powder – 1tsp
  5. Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  6. Red chili flakes – 1 ½ tsp
  7. Pepper powder ¾ tsp
  8. Cumin powder – ½ tsp
  9. Dried fenugreek leaves/ kasoori methi – ½ tsp
  10. Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp
  11. Salt –t to taste
  12. Oil – 2 tbsp
  1. Add 2 tbsp oil to the pan in which the prawns are fried. When hot add the chopped onion and little salt and saute till soft. To this add the chopped green chilies and saute for a minute.
  2. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook till soft. Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili flakes, pepper powder and cumin powder and saute well till the raw smell disappear and oil appears on top.
  3. Add the fried prawns to this and cook for 3 – 4 minutes over medium flame. Add ¼ cup water and when it starts to boil, reduce the flame and cook till the water content disappear. Add kasoori methi and coriander leaves, combine and remove from flame. Serve hot.
