Falafel - sanaa's recipe
  1. 1 Cup = 200ml
Ingredients
  1. Chickpeas – 1 cup
  2. Onion – 1 (chopped)
  3. Garlic – 4 big cloves (chopped)
  4. Red chili powder – ¾ tsp
  5. Coriander powder – ½ tsp
  6. Pepper powder – ½ tsp
  7. Cumin powder – ¾ tsp
  8. All purpose flour – 2 tbsp
  9. Baking soda – ¼ tsp
  10. Coriander leaves – ½ cup
  11. Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  12. Salt – to taste
  13. Oil – for deep frying
Method
  1. Soak the chickpeas in water overnight. Drain the soaked chickpeas and pat them dry.
  2. Add all the above ingredients in a food processor or grinder and grind it (do not grind it to fine paste). Cool it covered in the refrigerator for about an hour.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan. Make about 18 – 20 balls out of the prepared chickpea mixture (scoop it with a spoon).
  4. Fry these balls in medium low hot oil till golden turning the sides occasionally. Drain the excess oil in a paper towel. Serve hot.
