Plate Chicken Shawarma  - sanaa's recipe
  1. 1 Cup = 200ml
Ingredients
  1. Chicken (boneless) – ½ kg (cut it to thin strips)
  2. Red chili powder – 2 tsp
  3. Coriander powder – ½ tsp
  4. Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  5. Cumin powder – ¼ tsp
  6. Garam masala powder – ½ tsp
  7. Ginger – garlic paste – 2 tsp
  8. Yogurt – 3 tbsp
  9. Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  10. Salt – to taste
  11. Oil – 3 tbsp
Method
  1. Marinate the chicken pieces with the remaining ingredients except oil for about 2 – 3 hours.
  2. Heat 3 tbsp oil in a pan and fry the marinated chicken pieces till cooked over high flame stirring occasionally. Remove from flame.

  1. Pita bread – 5 – 6 (homemade or store bought)
  2. Mayonnaise/ garlic dip – ¼ cup
  3. Lettuce leaf – as required
  4. Onion – 1, thinly sliced
  5. Tomato – 2, thinly sliced
  6. Cabbage – 1 cup, thinly sliced
  7. Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp
  8. Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  9. French fries – for serving
  10. Salt – to taste
Method
  1. In a bowl combine together chicken pieces, thinly sliced onion, tomatoes, cabbage, coriander leaves, lemon juice and salt.
  2. In a plate, place a pita bread and spread little mayonnaise or garlic dip over the pita bread. Place lettuce leaf over it, put the chicken mixture over it and top it with some french fries. Drizzle little mayonnaise all over. Repeat the process with the remaining pita bread, and serve immediately.

Note : Makes 5 – 6 plate chicken shawarma. Chapathi, naan or kuboos can be used instead of pita bread. Recipe of homemade pita bread, garlic dip and French fries already added in the website.
