Kadai Chicken/ Chicken Karahi - sanaa's recipe
  1. 1 Cup = 200ml
For the marinade
Ingredients
  1. Chicken – 1 kg
  2. Red chili powder – 1 tsp
  3. Pepper powder – 1 tsp
  4. Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  5. Ginger – garlic paste – 1 ½ tsp
  6. Lemon juice – 1 tsp
  7. Salt – to taste
  8. Oil – 4 tbsp (for frying)
Method
  1. Marinate the chicken pieces with the remaining ingredients. Refrigerate it for about half an hour. Heat oil in a pan and fry the chicken pieces till golden brown. Remove the chicken pieces from the pan and keep it aside.
To grind
Ingredients
  1. Tomato – 2
  2. Green chili – 2
  3. Crushed ginger garlic – 2 tsp
  4. Red chili powder – ½ tsp
  5. Cardamom – 2
  6. Cloves – 2
Method
  1. Grind the above ingredients to a fine paste. Keep it ready.
Other ingredients
Ingredients
  1. Onion – 2, big (sliced)
  2. Green chili – 1 (chopped)
  3. Ginger – 1 tsp
  4. Red chili powder – 1 ½ tsp
  5. Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  6. Garam masala powder – ½ tsp
  7. Pepper powder – ½ tsp
  8. Kasoori methi – ½ tsp
  9. Fresh cream – ½ cup
  10. Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
  11. Water – 1 ½ cup
  12. Salt – to taste
  13. Oil – 2 tbsp
Method
  1. Add 2 oil to the same pan in which the chicken is fried, add sliced onion, green chili and ginger and salt and saute till soft. To this add red chili powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, garam masala powder and kasoori methi and saute till raw smell disappear.
  2. Add the ground tomato mix and 1½ cup water to this and bring to boil.
  3. Add the fried chicken to this and cook this for about 10 – 12 minutes on low flame.
  4. When it becomes thick, add fresh cream and coriander leaves to it and combine well. Remove from flame and serve hot.
