Palak Daal - sanaa's recipe
  1. 1 Cup = 200ml
Ingredients
  1. Masoor daal (red lentil) - 1 cup
  2. Water - 2 1/2 cup
  3. Cumin seed - ½ tsp
  4. Mustard seeds - ¾ tsp
  5. Crushed garlic - 1 tsp
  6. Onion - 1, chopped
  7. Green chili - 2, chopped
  8. Fresh spinach/palak leaves - 3 cup, chopped
  9. Tomato - 1, chopped
  10. Red chili pwd - 1 tsp
  11. Turmeric pwd - ½ tsp
  12. Lemon juice - 1 tsp
  13. Salt - to taste
  14. Oil - 2 tbsp
  15. Curry leaves - little
  16. Water - 1 - 1 ½ cup
Method
  1. Wash the masoor daal and cook it in the pressure cooker adding 2 1/2 cup of water for 3 - 4 whistles (till done). Keep it aside.
  2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and let it splutter. To this add crushed curry leaves and crushed garlic and saute till the raw smell disappear.
  3. Add chopped onion and green chilies and saute till the onion changes the colour. Add chopped palak leaves and saute for about 4 - 5 minutes. To this add chopped tomato and cook till soft.
  4. Add red chili pwd, turmeric pwd and salt and saute till the raw smell disappears. Add the cooked daal to this and mix well. Add 1 - 1 ½ cup of water to this and let it boil. Add lemon juice, mix well and remove from flame. Serve hot.
