Fried Fish Masala

Fried Fish Masala - sanaa's recipe
  1. 1 Cup = 200ml
Ingredients
  1. Pomfret fish pieces - ½ kg (or any other fish)
  2. Chili pwd - 1 tbsp
  3. Turmeric pwd - ¼ tsp
  4. Pepper pwd - ½ tsp
  5. Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
  6. Crushed ginger - garlic - 1 ½ tsp
  7. Salt - to taste
  8. Oil - 4 -5 tbsp (for frying)
Method
  1. Marinate the fish pieces with the above ingredients except oil and keep it aside for about half an hour.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish till done. Keep it aside.
Ingredients
  1. Mustard seeds - ½ tsp
  2. Crushed garlic - 1 ½ tsp
  3. Onion - 2 (sliced)
  4. Green chili - 1
  5. Tomato - 1 (chopped)
  6. Chili pwd - ¾ tsp
  7. Pepper pwd - ½ tsp
  8. Cumin pwd - a pinch
  9. Turmeric pwd - a pinch
  10. Garam masala pwd - ¼ tsp
  11. Salt - to taste
  12. Curry leaves - 8 - 10 leaves
  13. Oil - 2 tbsp - to saute
Method
  1. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds to it and let it splutter. To this add curry leaves and saute for few seconds
  2. Add the sliced onion and green chili to it and saute till soft and changes the colour. To this add crushed garlic and saute till the raw smell disappears. Add chopped tomato and saute for a while.
  3. Add chili pwd, pepper pwd, turmeric pwd, cumin pwd and garam masala pwd and salt and cook till the tomato is cooked and oil appears on top. Add ¼ cup of water and let it cook for a minute.
  4. Add the fried fish to this and mix slowly. Cook it for another 2 - 3 minutes on low flame and remove from fire. Serve hot.
