Pepper Chicken Masala

Pepper Chicken Masala - sanaa's recipe
  1. 1 Cup = 200ml
Ingredients
  1. Chicken - ½ kg
  2. Whole black pepper - ½ tsp
  3. Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
  4. Cardamom - 2
  5. Onion - 3, medium (sliced)
  6. Green chili - 2, chopped
  7. Crushed ginger - garlic - 1 tsp
  8. Tomato - 1, big (chopped)
  9. Black pepper powder - 1 ½ tsp
  10. Coriander powder - ¾ tsp
  11. Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
  12. Curry leaves - 5 - 6 leaves
  13. Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp
  14. Salt - to taste
  15. Oil - 3 tbsp
Method
  1. Heat oil in a pan, add whole black pepper, cumin seeds and cardamom and let it splutter. To this add onion and green chilies and saute till soft and changes its colour.
  2. Add crushed ginger garlic, curry leaves and saute till the raw smell disappears. Add chopped tomato and cook till soft.
  3. Now add black pepper powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt and saute till the raw smell disappears and oil appears on top. Add the cleaned chicken pieces to this and mix well. Let it cook for about 2 - 3 minutes.
  4. Add about 1 ¼ cup of water and let it cook covered on low flame till the chicken is done and the gravy is very thick. (If you want more gravy, add little more water at this point and let it boil). Add coriander leaves and serve hot.
